Imaginative creations

Posted on October 30, 2009

Recently, I was privileged enough to shoot an event for a friend. Shanelle is the founder of Imaginative Creations by Shanelle: a wedding & event planning company based in New York City. She believes that her client’s special occasions should reflect their individual style.  This is one of reasons why we gel so well. :)

Shanelle planned a wonderful wedding event for her clients and asked if I could come down to take a few images of the event. I obliged, with some teeth pulling of course.

Here are a few of my favorites of her client’s special day:

JOSHUA DWAIN PHOTOGRAPHY – NEW YORK CITY WEDDINGS

Alexander Wedding | Washington, DC

Posted on October 25, 2009

Naja and Richard are truly amazing. Without an ounce of exaggeration I can say that they are definitely a couple that I can hang out regularly. Cool, relaxed, laid back, are just some of the words I can used to describe their demeanor. We had the pleasure of driving down to Washington, DC and Maryland to photograph their wedding. A short 4.5 hour drive from New York City was nothing compared to a large part of Naja’s family coming from New Orleans, LA to share in their happiness.

Oh yea… and if you missed their engagement session take a look here.

Other Notable Mentions:
Wedding Ceremony: Dunbarton Chapel at Howard University Law School
Wedding Planner/Coordinator: Jennuine Kymistry Event Design and Planning
Reception Hall: Martin’s Crosswinds

While we were doing a few portraits before heading out to meet Richard, Naja let go and started to cry. Denyce tends to her.

Naja and Richard opted to see each other before the Wedding Ceremony. I love their “First Look”! Their was a lot of blush, I’m not going to say by who, lol.

Once again, I wish you guys the best. Thanks again for your trust in me. It means a lot to be asked to photograph a wedding. Your day was truly special, and I am blessed to have been able to take part.

Gaithersburg, MD | Naja & Richard

Posted on October 1, 2009

They say “laughter makes love last really, really long”, well let me correct that. They don’t really say that. I actually kind of made that statement up. But nevertheless, it doesn’t matter whether it were Plato or Josho, Divinci or Dwaini; whomever coined the phrase I believe it still holds true. I am no woman expert but in my years of trying to understand my female counterparts I’ve always heard that women want a man that can make them laugh. They want ‘em smart, or ‘tall, dark and handsome’, or successful, or one who loves his mother. The requirement of the ability to make her laugh is always in the mix.

That’s one thing that Naja loves about Richard. The ability to make her laugh, and smile and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We had the pleasure of driving down to Rockvile & Gaithersburg, Maryland just to photograph Naja and Richard’s engagement session. Naja and Richard were fun and crazy. I can’t wait to shoot their Wedding in Washington, DC at the Howard University Chapel. The University is their Alma Mater.

Here are a few of my favorites of the day…
