I’ve never been a huge winter fan. I was born in March and I could never get used to the cold. Quite frankly I don’t understand how anyone could. Here in NY the winters are hard, cold, and insensitive about my feelings. I’ve endured several winters shoveling snow, digging out my car, my dad’s car, my friends car, neighbors cars, and the list continues. Winters are really not cool in my book ( <- unintentional pun).
This is why the below image saddens me. It’s a nice image, there’s no doubt about it, but as I raked leaves in our yard early last Sunday and I saw this one leaf sitting on my doorstep, I couldn’t help thinking about the signal that nature gives us when it’s time to prepare for winter. This one leaf seemed to turn my mediocre glee of doing chores into sadness of what’s to come. If we could skip winter and go to spring, I’d be A OK with that.
I’m really hoping that this winter is as modest as the last… I can’t take another 1996 winter!

love the picture and the story behind it, very good job on the colors!
I’m with you. Let’s skip this winter business all together! YUCK. Beautiful photo though and such lovely colors! We’ll have some color again soon!
